I work as a librarian in the Instruction Services Department at University of California Davis. My interests are in gaming, video and motion graphics which manifest in my library work in areas of instruction, marketing and outreach. I also pursue these activities in the virtual world of Second Life. I volunteer with the Second Life Library along with 600+ volunteer librarians from around the world and work within the virtual world as a paid instructor for continuing education classes on machinima production (animated 3D real-time video capture) for the University of Illinois Urbana Champagne's Graduate School of Library & Information Science. My Second Life activities over the last year and a half have most definitely caused me to "rethink the library" and look to Web 2.0 technologies to extend our real life and Second Life presence and work alongside library users. My previous library experience is as a library manager with Maricopa Library District, Arizona; information officer with UK Office for Library Networking, University of Bath; intranet developer with Business Information and Records Management, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Toronto, Canada.
