Farming systems and insect predators \ Agriculture, ecosystems and environment : an international journal for scientific research on the relationship of agriculture and food production to the biosphere [Artikel]
Booij, C.J.H. \ Noorlander, J. \ 1992
In a Dutch project concerning the development of arable farming systems (conventional, integrated and organic) predatory carabids, staphylinids and spiders were monitored from 1981 to 1987. The effects of croptype and farming system on species divers ...

Comparative studies on the soil life in ecofarmed and conventionally farmed fields and grasslands of Austria \ Agriculture, ecosystems and environment : an international journal for scientific research on the relationship of agriculture and food production to the biosphere [Artikel]
Foissner, W. \ 1992
The soil fauna of ecofarmed and conventionally farmed fields and grasslands was investigated in various regions of Austria. Results obtained from the evaluation of a total of 13 paired sites are reviewed in this contribution. Objects of research were ...

The importance of integration in sustainable agricultural systems \ Agriculture, ecosystems and environment : an international journal for scientific research on the relationship of agriculture and food production to the biosphere [Artikel]
Edwards, C.A. \ 1990
A theory is presented how interactions between fertilizers, pesticides, cultivations and rotations influence crop yields and farm income. Knowledge about these interactions will attribute to designing farming systems with lower energy-inputs

From integrated control to integrated farming, an experimental approach \ Agriculture, ecosystems and environment : an international journal for scientific research on the relationship of agriculture and food production to the biosphere [Artikel]

Problems in evaluating the economics of ecological agriculture \ Agriculture, ecosystems and environment : an international journal for scientific research on the relationship of agriculture and food production to the biosphere [Artikel]
Lockeretz, W. \ 1989
Prudence is called for in asserting generalizations based on the limited research results currently available. Problems arise in defining ecological agriculture, the scale and viewpoint on which the study is applied and to take account for the farmer ...

Feeding experiments. A criterion for quality estimation of biologically and conventionally produced foods. \ Agriculture, ecosystems and environment : an international journal for scientific research on the relationship of agriculture and food production to the biosphere [Artikel]
Plochberger \ 1989
A feeding experiment with hens was conducted to determine whether animal feedstuffs of the same variety, from the same site and under identical storage conditions (but one cultivated biologically and the other conventionally) show different effects a ...

Ecology of low-input, no-tillage agroecosystems \ Agriculture, ecosystems and environment : an international journal for scientific research on the relationship of agriculture and food production to the biosphere [Artikel]
House, G. J. \ Brust, G. E. \ 1989
This paper defends and provides experimental evidence for the authors' contention that the enhancement of soil biota and activity under low-input, no-tillage conditions promotes interactions beneficial to agricultural production at several ecological ...

Carabid beetle communities (Carabidae, Coleoptera) in biologically and conventionally farmed agroecosystems \ Agriculture, ecosystems and environment : an international journal for scientific research on the relationship of agriculture and food production to the biosphere [Artikel]
Kromp, B. \ 1989
The differences in carabid agroeconosen, observed in wheat fields in Austria, seem to be mainly due to the higher weediness, greater heterogenity of crop density and absence of pesticides in the biological wheat fields compared to the conventional wh ...

Ecological effects of organic agricultural practices on insect populations \ Agriculture, ecosystems and environment : an international journal for scientific research on the relationship of agriculture and food production to the biosphere [Artikel]
Culliney, T.W. \ Pimentel, D. \ 1986
Late-season population densities of flea-beetles, alate aphids and caterpillars were found to be significantly lower on collards which were fertilized with sewage sludge and cow manure than on chemically fertilized and unfertilized plants

Jones, M.R. \ 1986
Energy costs per ha with the organic system were 25% lower than with a conventional cropping system, although energy costs per $ of output were 25% higher. A doubling of energy prices in the model led to only a small improvement in the competetive po ...
