'Staff publications' is the digital repository of Wageningen University & Research

'Staff publications' contains references to publications authored by Wageningen University staff from 1976 onward.

Publications authored by the staff of the Research Institutes are available from 1995 onwards.

Full text documents are added when available. The database is updated daily and currently holds about 240,000 items, of which 72,000 in open access.

We have a manual that explains all the features

Title Methods to derive critical loads for nitrogen for terrestrial ecosystems
Author(s) Vries, W. de; Latour, J.B.
Source In: Mapping and modelling of critical loads for nitrogen - a workshop report / Hornung, M., Sutton, M.A., Wilson, R.B., - p. 20 - 33.

Publication type Chapter in scientific book
Publication year 1995
Abstract The effects of an excess input of nitrogen on terrestrial ecosystems may include changes in vegetation, damage to forests, and pollution of groundwater with nitrate. Critical loads (deposition levels) for nitrogen related to these effects can be derived by empirical data, steady-state soil models and dynamic soil-vegetation models. Examples of the various approaches are given with a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages for the mapping of critical loads.
