Abstract Etikettering in de vorm van herkomstaanduiding naar land van oorsprong wordt bij rundvlees al enige jaren toegepast. In de studie wordt deze regeling geëvalueerd. Vervolgen worden de voor- en nadelen van een nationale of een EU-herkomstaanduiding voor de varkens- en pluimveevleessector in kaart gebracht. Geconcludeerd kan worden dat er in de sterk internationaal georiënteerde Nederlandse vleessector vooralsnog beperkt draagvlak is voor enige vorm van nationale herkomstaanduiding. Labelling in the form of indications of countries of origin has been in use for beef for several years already. This labelling scheme has been evaluated. All the aspects of the labelling of pork and poultry meat are mapped out. It was concluded that most Dutch industry members do not desire a national origin label.
