Abstract Onderzoek, gedaan in de teelt van asperges en aardbei, toont aan dat het onderwerken van groenbemesters en daarna de grond afdekken (beter bekend als biologische grondontsmetting) mogelijkheden biedt om een breed scala van ziekten in gewassen te beheersen. Toepassing van deze techniek in een akkerbouwmatig bouwplan zou veel gewasproblemen als gevolg van bodemziekten kunnen tegengaan.
