Abstract The project "Biodiversity, impact and control of microsporidia in bumble bee (bombus spp.) pollinators" (acronim "Pollinator parasites") within Key Action 5 of the Fifth framework R&D Programme Quality of LIfe and Management of Living Resources was initiated January 1, 2003 and terminates December 31, 2005. The project is financed by the European Commission (QLK5-2001-00741) The main objective of the project is to investigate prevalence and diversity of intracellular parasites (Microsporidia) in European Bombus spp., to investigate consequences of such infections and how they can be controlled in bumble bee rearing
