Abstract Dietary fibre is known to enhance satiety in various ways, and could potentially be used to aid in the control of food intake in humans and reduce hunger in restricted-fed pigs. Although the relationship between dietary fibre and satiety has been established, the underlying mechanisms have yet to be elucidated. In this project we try to identify the working mechanisms by which dietary fibre affects long term satiety, using the pig both as a model for humans and as a target animal.
