Abstract From the consumer's point of view, food is at the same time among the most trivial and the most complex of all product groups. Food is at the same time a mundane and a functional product. Sometimes we eat for sustenance, for example, while sitting behind our desks when typing reports, and at other times having an elaborate dinner is a pleasurable situation and helps us to strengthen family and friendship bonds.
