Esther Turnhout was interviewed for Nature in the News & Comment section about her views on the Intergovernmental Platform for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). IPBES has a monoculture of natural scientists in its expert groups and is lacking social scientists. But that is not for a lack of will, she says. However, there have been missed opportunities.
