To analyse the mineral balance Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture took many measurements at the nursery of chrysanthemum grower Jos and Ron Ammerlaan. Part of the nitrogen appears to disappear due to denitrification. Growers can steer the crop more by adjusting the water supply and the composition of the fertiliser. For this a good sensor is essential, says the grower.
