Abstract This technical report is an appendix to the report The significance of green citizens’ initiatives: analysis of thecharacteristics and effects of 264 initiatives in the Netherlands (Mattijssen et al., 2016). It starts with severalremarks concerning the method described in the main report. These are followed by an explanation of theconceptual framework used in the main report, with additional arguments for and descriptions of the criteriaused to analyse green citizens’ initiatives. It also contains supplementary information on the ideal typespresented in the main report and a discussion of two ideal types, ‘social entrepreneurship’ and ‘financialsupport’, both of which were not included in the main report because of the limited scale and relevance ofthese initiatives. Finally, the report concludes with a stepwise description of all the ideal types based on thedimensions of the conceptual framework.
