About Food scientists should only publicize results showing a relationship between nutrition and health if they are able to come up with a plausible biological mechanism, said Sander Kersten in his inaugural lecture on 10 May. Otherwise, thinks the professor of Molecular Nutrition, scientists only confuse the general public and undermine the credibility of food science. The Dutch consumers’ association agrees, but others think this is going too far.
