December 11, 2006
Wageningen Desktop Library, the digital library of Wageningen UR Library (http://library.wur.nl/desktop)
will get a face-lift in 2007. The digital library will adopt the Wageningen UR house style and will be
renamed Wageningen UR Digital Library.
Shortcuts, the fast access to the bibliographical resources will be called Search.
The Wageningen UR Library Catalogue and the most used resources will get a more prominent place there.
You will find the complete collection of personal electronic services
(alerts, favourite resources, status of loans) under My Library.
Also, searching databases of Wageningen UR Library, such as the catalogue and Artik will change slightly. Please check the help icons and the search tips on the search screens.
During the reconstruction of the digital library from 27 to 29 December, the availability of the systems cannot be guaranteed. The library requests your understanding. As of January 1, Wageningen UR Digital Library can be found at http://library.wur.nl.
Wageningen Yield publications sustainably archived by the National Library (KB)
November 27, 2006
The articles, book chapter, conference proceedings or reports published by members of Wageningen UR and submitted in electronic form in our repository WAY will now be archived by the National Library of the Netherlands. The National Library has a leading role in the world for sustainably archiving electronic documents. The National Library of the Netherlands archives the electronic journals of leading publishers such as Elsevier, Springer and Oxford amongst others as well.
The electronic archiving by the National Library is yet another reason to make sure that electronic copies of articles published by members of Wageningen UR are deposited in Metis/Way, even if they are only preprints.
New citation reports in Web of Science
November 23, 2006
Web of Science has been extended with a "citation reports" function, not to be confused with Journal Citation Reports or JCR. This report provides aggregate citation statistics for a set of search results. The report provides two graphs providing an insight in the productivity and citation impact of a research subject. The citation report also features the h-index, a unique metric that adjusts for over- and underweighting of citation data for individual papers in a set.
You can generate the report by clicking the citation report button on the left side of the screen
The h-index was developed by J.E. Hirsch and published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America 102 (46):16569-16572. This index has subsequently attracted a lot of attention in the world of bibliometricians.
SFX in PubMed
The SFX button is now available in PubMed, which results in an improved linkage with our electronic and print content. As a consequence, we removed the Wageningen UR filter in the results page, because this showed only part of the obtainable articles.

Wageningen Yield now searchable in Scirus
September 21, 2006
Scirus has now fully indexed all the free fulltext content from the Wageningen UR repository server, Wageningen Yield (WaY). WaY actually contains a lot more publications than those freely accessible 7100 articles, reports, PhD theses etc., indexed currently by Scirus. The selection indexed by Elsevier contains only those publications which are freely available fulltext, which includes amongst others all electronic PhD theses. Interesting to note, is that the Bibliographic database Scopus also presents results from Scirus as their web results. With these developments the exposure of our research output has considerably increased.

Each entry has an index and a browse function.
For a chemical structure search (exact search and substructure search) a special plugin is necessary,
available upon request.
A web-based tour is available.

2 - New Search Option: Limit Searches by Language in JSTOR
A new option to limit your search by language is now available as part of the JSTOR search interface. On the Advanced Search form, this option appears under the "Narrow Your Search" section in the format of a drop-down menu that lists the languages for which the JSTOR archive contains a significant amount of article content (English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Latin, Portuguese, and Spanish). By limiting a search to a particular language, the search results will include only articles in the selected language.
For more information about limiting searches, please see the Search Help file
