His research fields are: Ecogenomics; Chemical ecology; Behavioural Ecology; Multitrophic Interactions; Signal transduction; Induced resistance; Biological control; Host-plant resistance. He received the Netherlands Zoology Prize (1992), the Belgacom Prize (Royal Belgian Academy of Sciences, 1996) and NWO-Vici grant (2002).
