Toelichting (Engels) | Migration is a shared global challenge, instigated by rapidly growing town and city populations in Africa and southeast Asia coupled with improved mobility and technology. Many countries have a bottom-heavy population pyramid; an extreme example is Sierra Leone, with (2015) 80 % of the population under 35 years of age and just over 40 % under 15 (page 35). Young and Rodriguez report in this issue an estimated global total of 1.8 billion people 10 to 24 years old, with youth as the majority population in cities in the Global South. | |
