Toelichting The rising trends in wet fallout of ammonia over Denmark, the content of nitrate in Danish streams and the nitrate content in Danish groundwater aquifers are of the same order, and correspond to the magnitude of the rate at which nitrogen losses from Danish agriculture has increased during the period from 1950 to 1980. The total annual input of nitrogen to Danish agriculture has increased from about 320 million kg N in 1950 to about 630 million kg N in 1980
