Extracts of nettles (Urtica dioica) were evaluated for potential growth stimulating effects on wheat, tomato and barley. Approximately 10x dilution of nettle water gave the highest root fresh weight and adventitious root length in wheat in relation to more diluted or concentrated media. Use of nettle water resulted in about 20% higher fresh shoot weight and about 15% higher nitrogen levels in shoots compared with the nutrient solution treatment
