At Skierniewice (Poland), the yielding behaviour of tomato plants in outdoor Plant Plane Hydroponic system was compared with that of tomato plants grown in soil. On an average of four varieties under review, accelerated growth and the resultant developmental advance in soilless system entailed an early crop yield that was higher by 0.9 kg/m2 by the end of July, 5.0 kg/m2 higher total yield, and 3.9 kg/m2 higher marketable yield by the beginning of October. In their trend, the yields achieved at Skierniewice in 1994 are in line with those recorded at Grossbeeren in 1992 and 1993
