Toelichting (Engels) Problems related to quantitative and qualitative water management generally show a strong relationship. The water quality in a river is not only determined by the quantity of pollutants dumped into the river, but also by the river discharge. The Netherlands are an example of such a situation, where river waters are used to control the quantitative and qualitative water management in 51% of the area of the country
