Mathematical model for microbial fuel cells with anodic biofilms and anaerobic digestion \ Water science and technology : a journal of the International Association on Water Pollution Research [Artikel]
Picioreanu, C. \ Katuri, K.P. \ Head, I.M. \ Loosdrecht, M.C.M. Van \ Scott, K. \ 2008
This study shows how a computational model can help understand the interactions between coexisting methanogenic communities and electroactive bacteria transferring electrons to a microbial fuel cell anode via soluble redox mediators

Impact of cell cluster size on apparent half-saturation coefficients for oxygen in nitrifying sludge and biofilms \ Water research : the journal of the International Association on Water Quality [Artikel]
Picioreanu, C. \ Pérez, J. \ Loosdrecht, M.C.M. van \ 2016
A three-dimensional (3-D) diffusion-reaction model was used to assess the effects of nitrifiers growing in cell clusters on the apparent oxygen half-saturation coefficients in activated sludge flocs. The model allows conciliation of seemingly contrad ...

Effect of dynamic process conditions on nitrogen oxides emission from a nitrifying culture \ Environmental science & technology / American Chemical Society [Artikel]
Kampschreur, M.J. \ Tan, N.C.G. \ Kleerebezem, R. \ Picioreanu, C. \ Jetten, M.S.M. \ Loosdrecht, M.C.M. van \ 2008
Nitric oxide (NO) and nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from nitrifying ecosystems are a serious threat to the environment. The factors influencing the emission and the responsible microorganisms and pathways were studied using a laboratory-scale nitrify ...
