The study of landscape experience is dispersed across different scientific disciplines such as environmental psychology, human geography, sociology and anthropology. Each discipline makes valuable but highly selective contributions to our understanding of landscape experience. The aim of this book is to construct a comprehensive theory of landscape experience, one that embraces the disciplinary theories and approaches. The central question is how, by what processes, landscape experiences come into being.
