Laser measurements done with an airborne profiler were applied to determine geometric parameters of the land surface and to estimate the aerodynamic roughness length at increasing length scales. Geostatistical methods were used to obtain a measure of length scales. Long laser profiles (8 km at a spatial sampling of 0.15 m) were used to calculate the autocorrelation function, the power spectrum, fractal dimensions, and the wavelets transform.
