Abstract A desk study has been conducted to study the adverse effects and the causative factors for foot pad lesions. An international meeting to exchange knowledge on a uniform, accepted by the EU, scoring method and the effects of intervention methods are discussed. From field studies in Sweden and Denmark can be concluded that the prevalence of foot pad lesions will be reduced after implementation of intervention strategies
