Abstract Diseases in dairy cows result in inefficient production because of a decrease in milk production and fertility, and an increased risk of culling. Therefore, diseases also will have an impact on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions per kg milk. The objective of this study was to estimate the impact of diseases in dairy cows on GHG emissions. Three diseases with a high incidence were included: foot disorders, clinical mastitis, and subclinical ketosis.
