Abstract Biorefineries use a range of techniques to separate solid particles from liquid ones. Besides using gravity or centrifugal forces we can also separate solid particles from the liquid or gas phase on the basis of their size. A common technique to perform this separation is called filtration.
This lesson is part of the WageningenX MOOC called ‘Biorefinery: From Biomass to Building Blocks of Biobased Products'
