AGRIFORVALOR aims to close the research and innovation divide by connecting practitioners from agriculture and forestry to research and academia as well as with associations and clusters, bio-industry, policy makers; business support organisations, innovation agencies and technology transfer intermediaries in multi-actor innovation partnership networks. The focus of the project is on the transfer of know-how and information to enable and support farmers and foresters to exploit existing research results and facilitate the capture of grass root ideas for bio-industry development.
In the project, practitioners in the field of biomass side-streams are united in three Biomass Innovation Design Hubs, piloted in Spain (Andalucía), Hungary and Ireland. In each of these hubs, existing research results and good practices on valorisation of biomass side-streams from agro and forest will be shared and matched with the specific needs and potentials; new grass-roots ideas collected and developed; and dedicated innovation support applied to further deploy selected topics which are dealt with by multi-actor innovation partnership groups.

The HYSOL project aims at hybridisation of concentrated solar power with a gas turbine in order to guarantee a stable and reliable electricity supply, based on renewable energy. The production of fully renewable electricity in a Hybrid Concentrated Solar Power (HCSP) plant includes the use of renewable gas. In task 6.2 of the HYSOL project research into the possibilities of sustainable biogas production from agricultural residues by anaerobic digestion has been performed. In this report results are described of part of this research focussing on potential biogas production and digestate production and utilisation from animal manure and crop residues.

Poster of the Carbohydrate Competence Center. The increasing demand for 2nd generation bio-based performance materials presents an excellent opportunity for the development of agricultural residues like sugar beet pulp (SBP) as feedstock for renewable polymers. Refining SBP yields various industrially interesting components, such as galacturonic acid. This sugar acid can be transformed into a novel family of bio-based building blocks called GalX. Here we report on the use of GalX building blocks in bio-based polymers.

Bloembolresten zijn een goede aanvulling in het rantsoen van een vergister. De gasproductie liep uiteen van 100 m3 per ton vers voor lelieresten tot 250 m3 per ton vers voor tulpenresten. Dit blijkt uit proeven die zijn uitgevoerd met de vergister van ACRRES in Lelystad.
