An estimate was made of the volume of the growing stock of the 1800 ha Smilde forest management unit, Netherlands using double (or two-phase) sampling. A systematic sample scheme was used to estimate the number of trees per diameter class in phase 1. In phase 2, the relation between diameter and volume was calculated using linear regression. The total volume was estimated at 140.5+or-8.0msuperscript 3/ha. (Abstract retrieved from CAB Abstracts by CABI’s permission)Downloads
