Abstract

The effect of pH on Cu toxicity in maize cv. Capella was studied in 3 sol. culture experiments of different design. Raising the pH intensified the toxic effect of Cu which reduced root growth and enhanced association of Cu2+ ions with physiologically essential sites in the roots when competition from protons was lowered.
