Abstract

A review, with special reference to the need to reconsider the cultivations required by crops following the introduction of effective chemical means of controlling weeds. The mouldboard plough as a method of controlling weeds is challenged by herbicides, but its use remains the most effective means of burying soil surfaces damaged by the passage of vehicles.-P.J.B.
