Abstract

On humic sandy soil annual application of 104 kg/ha N, 24 kg P and 146 kg K (as lime ammonium nitrate, KC1 and super or basig slag) limited the leaching of bases except Na, and Mg was severely leached. The Na supply was improved by supplying the first N dressing in spring wholly or partly as Chilean NaNO3; NaCl can be applied on land where organic manures are mainly used. For Mg deficiency the Mg level of the soil should be increased & annual or biennial applications made of 100 kg/ha kieserite or lime ammonium nitrate containing Mg.
