Abstract

The formation of zonal soils on rhyolitic and daciiic tuffs is discussed, and profiles are described of seven zonal soils (distributed over four belts with podzols at 1500-2000 m, podzol-brown podzolic iniergrades at 1100-1500 m, brown podzolic soils at 1100-500 m, red-yellow podzolic soils at 500 m and less) and four intrazonal soils formed on andesitic-dacitic tuffs at low altitudes. Andosols, humic gley soils and grey hydromorphic soils are distinguished according to drainage impedance. (Abstract retrieved from CAB Abstracts by CABI’s permission)
