Abstract

The effect of a completely water-soluble compound fertilizer 12-10-18 on oats (600 and 1, 000 kg/ha) and potatoes (900 and 1, 600 kg/ha) was compared with that of equivalent rates of straight fertilizers (NH4NO3-limestone or (NH4)2SO4 with double super and K2SO4); both treatments were applied by broadcasting and by banding at 3 cm to the side and 3 cm below the oat seed and 7 cm to the side of the potato seed. Best yields resulted from placement of the compound fertilizer and the effects of broadcasting the compound fertilizer were slightly better than those of banding the straight fertilizers.
