Abstract

Removal of flowers from Schwarz 21 groundnuts caused a marked increase and a marked periodicity in the intensity of flowering. Treated plants began to show a difference in flowering pattern after 10 days. In normal plants, 7-8 days elapsed between flowering and fruiting. It is suggested that inhibition of flowering occurs in normal groundnut plants before fruiting begins, possibly as early as at fertilization. [See Abs. 730.]-R.B.
