Abstract

By land consolidation is meant measures to improve the external productive factors of agriculture. Consolidation programmes in Bavaria, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and Sweden are compared. The present degree of fragmentation of holdings is discussed by comparing numbers of fields per farm and the average distance from field to farmstead in each country.-J.F.C.
