Origin no longer known; highly appreciated south of the river Maas in the province of Zuid-Holland, as well in the province of Overijssel.

SHAPE: as illustrated, sometimes somewhat shorter.

SIZE: third grade.

EYE: half closed, also closed; sepals small, short, greenish grey, in a narrow basin surrounded by small ribs.

STALK: short, medium thick, hardly any rust in cavity.

The COLOUR is as reproduced; small grey lenticels all over the skin.

The FLESH is fine, medium firm, not very juicy, sweet, yellowish by colour.

TIME OF USE: January - April. First grade for the kitchen.

The TREE is a moderate grower and very fertile when it has reached a certain age and one of the best choices for the orchard. Very popular on the market, travels well.
