Grown by Senator BURCHARD of Landsberg on the river Warthe.

SHAPE: no variations.

SIZE: of the second grade; from older trees not always as big as reproduced here.

EYE: half closed, occasionally closed, small, short sepals, medium basin.

STALK: medium length, thin, woody, in regular and russeted cavity.

The COLOUR as reproduced.

The FLESH is soft, or medium firm, rather fine, juicy, tart but softened by some sweetness.

TIME OF USE: November - January. Third grade for dessert apple; first grade for the kitchen.

The TREE grows well, bears fruit early and richly. The apples can stand strong winds. Recommended for the orchard as a standard tree; good apple for the market.
