See: Beschrijving der vruchtsoorten [Description of fruit varieties], third series, N°. 198.

SHAPE: few variations, seldom a little bit lower, sometimes a bit lopsided.

SIZE: of the second grade.

EYE: usually closed, sepals short, broad, grey, in saucer-shaped, medium deep basin, surrounded by very small folds.

STALK: very short, thick, sometimes fleshy, shallow cavity.

The COLOUR is somewhat deeper as illustrated; the apple on the tree is covered with a bluish bloom, as one sees with certain prunes.

The FLESH is crispy, almost coarse, very juicy, pleasantly sour, not sharp.

TIME OF USE: November - January. Second grade for the kitchen; a very good apple for sauce, probably recommendable for cider.

The TREE is a strong grower, spreads its branches wide; suitable for standard tree but needs protection; very fertile.
