Presumably of French origin.

 

SHAPE: as illustrated, always strong ribs.

SIZE: second grade, sometimes first grade.

EYE: half closed, rather long sepals, woolly, also in immediate surroundings, deep basin surrounded by uneven ribs .

STALK: medium length, woody, in broad cavity, mostly covered with thin rayed russeting.

The COLOUR in The Netherlands is slightly less yellow as illustrated here.

The FLESH is very tasteful, soft, very juicy, very aromatic.

TIME OF USE: December - April. First grade for dessert.

The TREE is a moderate grower, very fertile; recommended for pyramid and espalier on sufficiently warm places and in well prepared soil. This variety is widely known for its excellency and loved by everybody.
