The Handbuch claims the origin to be the surroundings of Bremen, Germany, where the apple is very common.

 

SHAPE: regular, strongly ribbed.

SIZE: third grade, on young trees sometimes approaching second grade.

EYE: closed, with curled sepals, in a deep basin surrounded by many ribs.

STALK: rather long and thin, woody, 20 - 30 mms long, in a rather broad, russeted cavity.

The COLOUR is lemon-yellow, with orange-red and violet at the sun side, including the cavity; white lenticels (which our illustration does not show). The skin is smooth, waxy and thin.

The FLESH is snow-white, fine, juicy. The core is big with dark brown, oblong pips.

TIME OF USE: December - March; first grade for the kitchen.

The TREE is a strong grower while it is young and very fertile. The twigs are light brown with some pale olive, with small white lenticels; the buds are thin, pointed; the shoots are mat brown, woolly; the leaves are big, oval, sometimes broad-oval, undulating at the edges, mat dark green, serrating is sharp and coarse; the flowers are beautiful, big and white, with rose-red nuances.

This variety is recommended only as half or standard tree.
