Kaneelzoet    (in the surroundings of the city of Gorinchem, The Netherlands).

 

 

 

Its origin is unknown, we received it from one of the local arborists in the Gorinchem area.

 

SHAPE: usually as illustrated, sometimes a bit lopsided.

SIZE: third grade.

EYE: open, with pointed, upstanding sepals, in a shallow, russeted and ribbed basin.

STALK: short, thick, crooked against the apple, almost no cavity.

The COLOUR is a somber yellowish green, golden-yellow at the sun side, sometimes with red-brown flames and black-brown lenticels, covered with a thin russeting.

The FLESH is fine, firm, sweet, pleasant, aromatic. The core is small, with large brown pips.

TIME OF USE: January - April; first grade for the kitchen.

The TREE is a excellent grower; twigs are upright, greyish dark brown, with small, grey and palpable lenticels; the buds are dull and variable in shape, flat; the leaf stalk is 30 - 40 mms long; the leaves are oblong and oval, pointed, sharply and irregularly serrated; the shoots are grey-brown and woolly.

The tree can only be recommended as a standard tree.
