This is an old Dutch variety which is still very popular in the provinces of Overijssel and Gelderland.

SHAPE: very regular.

SIZE: fourth grade.

EYE: open, with small, pointed sepals in a very regular, smooth, narrow and deep, saucer-like basin.

STALK: long, thin, woody, brown, in a rather deep, russeted cavity.

The COLOUR is lemon-yellow with few white-yellow lenticels, an orange blush at the sun side, seldom any russeting. The skin is smooth, glossy and thin.

The FLESH is yellowish white, firm, fine, crispy, very juicy, refreshing, pleasantly sour, softened by a little sweet. The core is medium sized, filled with dark brown pips, up to three to a cell.

TIME OF USE: November and December; second grade for dessert; from trees in sandy soil: very fine and recommendable.

The TREE is a regular grower and forms a flat-round crown, like the Bellefleur. The twigs are thin, brown with a thin, light grey bloom and few lenticels; the buds are flat; the shoots are thin, woolly; stalk leaves are 33 - 35 mms long; leaves are medium sized, oval, pointed, serrated, light green. This variety can be grown as a pyramid or as a standard tree.
