We received the apple from Mr. RIVERS in England. It probably was cultivated by Mr.coe, who is known for other varieties as well.

SHAPE: regular and steady.

SIZE: fourth grade, one of the smallest apples.

EYE: small, open or half-closed, small, pale brown-grey sepals, in a narrow, shallow and russeted basin, surrounded by small ribs.

STALK: 20 - 30 mms long, often shorter; woody, usually bent, green, a bit fleshy, in a narrow, shallow cavity, some russeting.

The COLOUR is a pale lemon-yellow, deeper yellow at the sun side with occasional purple spots; many small grey lenticels, unevenly spread. The skin is smooth, very thin, somewhat glossy.

The FLESH is white, with green-yellow veins, fine, firm, a little crispy, very juicy, pleasant and winy. The core is rather large, with small cells filled with light brown, attractive pips.

TIME OF USE: according to HOGG November until May; we did not eat them that early, it keeps very well; first grade for dessert, also because of its attractive shape.

The TREE bears mildly, stays small, grows slowly, but still makes a nice pyramid; the twigs are long, thin, brown-grey, with small, grey lenticels; the buds are small, flat; the shoots are brownish green, woolly; the leaf stalks are 25 - 30 mms long, thin; the leaves are mat green, somewhat woolly, broad oval, with a long tip and dully serrated.

It can be recommended as a pyramid and a dwarf tree, perhaps too as a cordon.
