According to the Handbuch this apple has been discovered in Dietz (Nassau - Germany); we received the same apple from Mr. oberdieck and Mr. james booth.

SHAPE: regular.

SIZE: fourth grade, sometimes approaching third grade.

EYE: usually closed, with long, pointed, green, woolly sepals, in a narrow and shallow basin, surrounded by little ribs which continue over the apple.

STALK: 10 mms long, thick, woody, usually bent, in a deep cavity covered with a thin, green-grey russeting.

The COLOUR is greenish yellow, at the sun side mat red, russet spots at the shadow side, many small, grey lenticels. Smooth skin.

The FLESH is creamy white, with yellow veins, fine, firm, juicy, when ripe soft, aromatic, pleasant. Large core, rather spacious cells and usually imperfect pips.

TIME OF USE: December - April; first grade for dessert and kitchen.

The TREE is a strong grower and forms a shapely crown; the twigs are medium sized, strong, violet-brown, with small, round lenticels; the buds stand off slightly; the shoots are brownish violet, woolly at the tip; the leaf stalks are 30 mms long, somewhat grooved; the leaves are oval, heart-shaped, sharply serrated, with a long pointed tip.

We recommend this variety as standard tree, half-tree and as pyramid.
