Cultivated by Mr. john braddick, Esq. from Thames Ditton in Engeland, according to the Handbuch.

 

SHAPE: very regular.

SIZE: fourth grade.

EYE: usually open, small, pointed sepals in a shallow basin, with some russeting and a few flat rises.

STALK: 15 - 20 mms long, fleshy, in a medium sized, russeted cavity.

The COLOUR is brown-red at the sun side, with many small, grey lenticels and entirely covered with a thin russeting. The skin is slightly rough.

The FLESH is yellowish white, fine, firm, juicy, aromatic, pleasant. The core is medium sized, small cells and dark brown pips.

TIME OF USE: December - March; first grade for dessert.

The TREE is a moderate grower and very fertile. The twigs are olive-violet, small lenticels; conical buds, slightly standing off; the shoots are slender, olive-coloured, with a thin wool, small, round lenticels; the leaf stalks are are 30 - 40 mms long; the leaves are egg-shaped, dully serrated, mat light green, twisted at the tip.

We recommend this excellent variety for all shapes, mainly however as pyramid, palmette, cordon, espalier and dwarf tree.
