Beyond the crossroads: from a nexus of challenges to interconnected transitions
Abstract
The development of sustainable circular economies is one of several societal transitions that are currently underway, of which the move to a climate neutral society is a key one. This keynote argues that achieving sustainable forms of circularity requires processes of collaboration that build on an understanding of (1) the complex ways in which current societal challenges interact, (2) the (rapidly reducing) available pathways to sustainable circularity, (3) the skills/capabilities needed for complex partnerships, and (4) the extent of change needed in actual practices of provision, including reducing absolute levels of consumption.
