Abstract

This discussion considers work on (1) the effects on piglet production of culling rate, energy intake of the sow, ages at 1st mating and 1st farrowing, and age at weaning, (2) the effects of CR and farrowing rate on the length of the reproductive cycle, and (3) the development of a sow productivity index for use as a guide to culling.
