Eyes of dormant tubers of 9 potato varieties were treated with GA. Only in the variety Rode Star was the period of dormancy appreciably reduced by treatment. The rate of sprout growth was hastened by GA in all varieties. GA applied to the lateral eyes of Gineke and Eigenheimer tubers caused more rapid sprouting of the apical eye. More lateral sprouts were produced by tubers treated with GA than by untreated controls.-R.B. (Abstract retrieved from CAB Abstracts by CABI’s permission)Downloads
