Phytophthora palmivora of cocoa and its control.

Abstract

Symptoms and factors affecting the incidence of Phytophthora palmivora are described and discussed. Both branch and leaf canopy treatments have been successfully applied with Kieken's automatic mist blowers. A form of cuprous oxide, Caocobre-Sandoz, has given good control when applied at 2 1/2-3 kg. in 100-2001. per hectare on cycles of 3-6 weeks.
