Abstract

In this popular article, information already abstracted in PBA, XXIV, Absts. 2293-4, XXV, Abst. 434 and XXVII, Abst. 3277 is summarized. In addition, methods of producing commercial triploid seed are discussed. Among crosses between tetraploid sugar beets and tetraploid mangels, the cross Sy (derived from Kleinwunzlebener E) x VC (from Alpha) has done well, Crosses of Sy with the diploids Friso, Alpha and Eureka have given some good triploid material.
