We received this variety from England, but we do not have any further details regarding its origin.

SHAPE: very attractive and regular, usually as our illustration.

SIZE: third grade, often a bit bigger than our illustration.

EYE: closed, sometimes half closed, greyish, pointed sepals, surrounded by little green ribs, in a regular saucer-shaped based, seldom any russeting.

STALK: 25 - 30 mms long; woody, brown, in a narrow, rather deep cavity, sometimes with some russeting.

The COLOUR is a somber greenish yellow, dully light red at the sun side, sometimes some brown-red stripes and flames; the entire apple is covered with with a thin, brownish grey russeting and many large, grey lenticels. The skin is a bit rough.

The FLESH is yellow-white, with green-yellow veins, firm, somewhat crispy, soft when ripened, very juicy, sweet tempered by some sourishness, very aromatic, pleasant, reminding of the Wijker Pippeling. The core is large, with large cells and few, usually imperfect, small, dark brown pips.

TIME OF USE: December - March; first grade for dessert.

The TREE grows steadily, makes a nice pyramid and bears mildly; the twigs are medium, not strong, olive-brown, with round, grey lenticels; the buds are broad and flat; the shoots are medium sized, brown-grey with green, very woolly; the leaf stalks are 20 - 30 mms long, a bit groved; the leaves are glossy green, oval, dull, irregularly serrated.

Suitable for all shapes, probably a good variety for the orchard and for the market.
